There are four different columns within the first section of the page shown above. Now, when it comes to the various sections of your page, there’s a little gear symbol that will allow you to edit that section. The same thing goes for your rows and the elements that you have on your page, but there’s no gear for the columns on your page. For a long time this drove me crazy because I didn’t know how to place something behind the column if I wanted it there.
Let’s say that you wanted to have something behind the ‘Advanced Tools & Things’ column that’s different. What you would have to do is click over on the ‘Columns’ section of the side menu and you locate the column that you want to work with within that window. Then, you can click on it, and all the settings for that particular column will open up.
What I wanted to do, in this case, was make the background for the column different. So, I opened up the color pallet, which is in the settings, and made it white. You can adjust the slider underneath the pallet to make the color a little more invisible or pronounced. In the screenshot below, you can see that there is a nearly translucent white color.
I use this all the time, like in optin forms where I have something on the right-hand side. There are also sliders and fields that you can use to make the margins of this section bigger or smaller, to make the edges more rounded, and things like that. A lot of times I’ll have a video over on the left of my pages and an optin form to the right.
To do this, I’ll create a row with two columns and add the video as an element on the left side, and then I’ll choose the ‘Headline/Text’ option within the settings to put in a headline over on the right. When you write your text, you’ll want to click on the gear to edit the color of your text, the size of it, and so on. Next, I chose ‘Input Form’ in order to create a form that they could put their email address into. Then, I added a button to this column underneath the field.
The problem is that these elements look unbalanced. They look like they are just floating there beside the video on the page, and that drives me crazy. Well, I fix this by filling the rest of this void up with a translucent white color as previously shown. Again, to do this you’ll want to click on the ‘Columns’ menu in the side bar, choose the right-hand column, and choose white for your background color. When you adjust the invisibility of the color, you will move it to the left to make it more translucent and move it all the way to the right to make it a solid color.
Also, I don’t like it when my margins are super-tight. To fix this, you would click on ‘Column’ followed by ‘Right Column’. Then the settings for this column will open up, and you can use the sliders under ‘Padding’ to add some space to the margins on top and bottom, and even left and right if you wanted to. The last thing that I did was use the ‘Radius’ setting to round off the edges.
