5 Killer Ways To Increase Your Online Presence

5 Killer Ways To Increase Your Online Presence

We live in an attention economy.

So how can you capture the attention of your dream customers?

The most straightforward way to do that is to become ubiquitous on the Internet.

Today we are going to discuss how you can increase your online presence to achieve that effect of seemingly being everywhere.

Why You Need to Dominate the Conversion on EVERY Marketing Channel

It’s not enough to dominate one marketing channel anymore.

Sure, you can build a business that pays the bills that way, but you will eventually hit a growth ceiling. Why?

Because there isn’t as much overlap between different channels as you might think – everyone has their preferred way to consume content.

Say, while there’s some overlap between those who read blogs and those who watch YouTube, by and large, they are not the same people.

So if all you have is a blog, you won’t reach your dream customers who prefer watching YouTube instead.

Not to mention those who prefer following brands on social media, watching TikTok, or listening to podcasts. Do you see how limiting this is?

That’s why you should aim to eventually dominate every platform so that you would maximize your reach. You want to be everywhere.

Build a Value Ladder Sales Funnel First!

Okay, so before we get into the nitty-gritty of increasing your online presence, let’s zoom out for a moment and look at the big picture. What’s the end goal here?

The purpose of building an online presence should be to drive traffic to your website. But that’s just the first step.

You then need to convert those site visitors into leads, leads into customers, and customers into repeat customers.

Our co-founder, Russell Brunson, has designed a system for that – it’s called the Value Ladder sales funnel. That’s what he used to grow ClickFunnels to $100M+ in annual revenue!

This sales funnel has four stages:

  • Bait. You offer the potential customer your lead magnet in exchange for their email address.
  • Frontend. You offer the potential customer your least expensive and least valuable product or service.
  • Middle. You offer the customer a more expensive and valuable product or service.
  • Backend. You offer the customer your most expensive and most valuable product or service.

Ideally, you also offer a continuity program of some sort, meaning, a subscription product that generates recurring revenue.

We also recommend adding downsells, upsells, and cross-sells to these core offers in order to maximize your revenue.

Build a Value Ladder Sales Funnel First!

The reason why this sales funnel works so well is that it allows you to:

  1. Start the relationship with that person by offering free value.
  1. Nurture that relationship by continuing to provide free value via email.
  1. Build trust by providing progressively more paid value at each stage.

Here’s how Russell explains it:

We recommend creating a Value Ladder sales funnel for your business before you start working on increasing your online presence.

All you need to get started is a lead magnet + a frontend product. You can build out the rest of the funnel later!

Once you have your sales funnel ready, make sure to drive all traffic to your lead magnet landing page

Not to your company website. ❌

Not to your sales page. ❌

But to your lead magnet landing page! ✔️

That will allow you to get the most out of the traffic you generate!

What You Need to Know About Increasing Your Online Presence

Consistency is the key to success.

The reason why most people who attempt to create an online presence fail is that they give up too soon.

Realistically, you should be prepared to invest at least 12-18 months of consistent work before you start seeing substantial results, as that’s how long it typically takes to gain momentum with these marketing channels.

That’s why you need to create a content schedule and then stick to it no matter what.

A productivity technique called “The Law of 100” can be helpful here.

Pick a goal such as:

  • Posting on social media for 100 days in a row.
  • Uploading 100 videos to YouTube.
  • Releasing 100 podcast episodes.
  • Publishing 100 blog articles.

…and then focus on achieving that goal.

This will help you to keep going when the initial enthusiasm fades and you feel stuck despite all your hard work. This miserable “Valley of Death” stage is inevitable. So be prepared for it and don’t give up!

Of course, consistency is not the only thing that matters, content quality is super important as well.

That’s why you need to make sure that each piece of content that you publish provides value to your dream customers.

Note that content quality is primarily determined by the content itself, not by the way you present it, provided that the presentation isn’t so atrocious that it immediately repels people.

If you provide an effective solution to a problem that your dream customers are struggling with, they will likely forgive presentation imperfections such as low production value, awkward delivery, etc.

While you should improve all that over time, don’t obsess over it in the beginning, just focus on delivering value.

It can be helpful to look at people who have already built a substantial online presence.

Go through their archives and see how their content improved over time – you’ll likely be surprised by the clumsiness of their first blog posts, videos, and podcast episodes.

Finally, engagement is also something that you should keep in mind, as social media platforms tend to prioritize this metric.

Ideally, you want to encourage discussions in the comment section and reply to each and every comment that you get. This will incentivize people to leave more comments. And more comments mean more engagement.

We also recommend replying to each and every email that you get because that will also help you build an engaged audience.

How to Increase Your Online Presence

Okay, with all that out of the way, here’s how to increase your social media presence:

#1 Social Media Marketing

Building a social media following is probably the easiest way to increase your online presence.

You should pick the platform that is favored by your dream customers and focus on it exclusively until you gain momentum on it. Then you can start expanding to other platforms.

If you aren’t sure which is the best platform for your business, consider using Statista to research the demographics of each major platform. Pay attention to gender, age, and nationality breakdowns.

Also, social media scheduling tools such as Buffer and MeetEdgar can be helpful here, as they allow you to batch-produce content and then schedule it to be automatically published over the upcoming month.

#2 YouTube Marketing

YouTube is the most popular video hosting platform out there  – it has over 2.2 billion users worldwide.

If you can figure out how to harness its algorithm, you can generate a lot of traffic by tapping into this massive user base.

What’s important here is to understand that YouTube is a search engine, so you need to target a specific keyword with each video if you want to grow on this platform.

Fortunately, it’s easy to identify popular keywords – all you need to do is type in a generic search term and look at search suggestions that come up. These are the keywords that you should target!

Say, if you type in “how to lose weight” into YouTube’s search, you might get something like this:

You should then pick one of these keywords and do competitive research.

Watch the 5 most popular videos that are ranking for your target keyword and read through the comments. Figure out how to make your video better than the competition!

Also, make sure that you end each video with a call to action that encourages viewers to get your lead magnet.

Remember, the goal here isn’t popularity for its own sake, it’s getting people’s attention and then driving traffic to your lead magnet landing page!

#3 TikTok

If you decide to build a YouTube channel, then it makes sense to start a TikTok channel as well.

After all, you are going to be producing video content anyway, so why not use short excerpts from your YouTube videos on TikTok?

You can also create standalone short-form video content and post it on both platforms.

#4 Podcasting

Starting a podcast is another great way to increase your online presence.

It’s estimated that 79% of the US population aged 12+ are familiar with podcasts, 62% have listened to a podcast at least once, and 38% have listened to at least one podcast in the previous month. And that’s just the US alone!

However, the podcast market is getting saturated, so you can’t start yet another run-of-the-mill podcast and expect it to be successful.

You need to differentiate yourself by finding your unique hook:

#5 Blogging

Finally, you can also build a blog that generates organic search traffic, but you need to keep in mind that competition in this space is insane.

That’s because everyone is competing for the top three spots on Google’s search results which get 54.4% of all clicks with the top result getting 27.6%

That being said, it’s still possible to build a successful blog, you just need to approach it the right way. What does that mean?

As Adam Enfroy, who is best known for making $1 million from his blog in less than 2 years, explains:

“While you can read about a ton of fancy “hacks” and shiny new tools, there are fundamental principles that have not changed when it comes to SEO and blogging.

  1. Content and links.
  2. Content and links.
  3. Content and links.

This has remained unchanged for the last 10+ years.”

That’s what it all boils down to:

  1. Create SEO content.
  2. Build links to that content.

SEO content is content that’s designed to target a specific keyword, so you need to start with keyword research.

You can learn the basics of it by watching this 10-minute video:

You also need to do competitive research and make sure that your content is better than anything that’s currently ranking on the first page of Google’s search results for that keyword. Why would Google give you a spot on it otherwise?

Finally, merely publishing great content is not enough, you also need to build as many links to it as possible. That’s why you need to be proactive when it comes to link building.

Say, guest posting is the most popular link-building method, but it’s probably safe to say that most people are way too chill about it to see any significant results. Publishing a guest post here and there whenever you feel like it is not going to cut it.

Adam Enfroy published 80+ guest posts in his first year of blogging. That’s the level of intensity that you need if you want to get a blog off the ground today.

Also, make sure that your blog is optimized for lead generation so that you could convert organic search traffic into leads.

Pro Tip: Repurpose Your Content As Much as Possible!

We are using this approach ourselves – ClickFunnels is everywhere

We have profiles on all major social media platforms, and we have not one but two YouTube channels because why not, we have a podcast…

And we also have a blog that you are reading right now!

So how do we manage to consistently produce so much content?

Our secret is content repurposing – we look for ways to use the same content on as many marketing channels as possible.

Say, we might use the same video content on YouTube, TikTok, and various social media platforms, as well as on our own blog.

Obviously, it needs to be adjusted for each platform, which might mean editing it to make it shorter, cutting out a specific clip, adding text, etc. But it’s the same video footage.

The same can be done with audio content – you can publish your podcast episodes on podcasting platforms, upload them to YouTube, share short clips on TikTok and social media, etc.

And with written content, you can repurpose it by creating images with quotes from your articles and then posting them on social media. Who knows, we might post something from this article on Instagram!

The point being, it’s not humanly possible to create 100% unique content from scratch for each marketing channel if you want to be ubiquitous. And why would you even want to do that?

It makes much more sense to repurpose everything you can!
