If we’ve said it once, we’ve said it a thousand times.
At ClickFunnels, webinars are BY FAR our most effective method for generating leads — they regularly outperform eBooks, white papers, cheat sheets, and PDFs.
It’s not just us, either.
58% of marketers use webinars as a promotion tool, 89% of marketers believe webinars outperform other channels in creating qualified leads, and 2% to 5% of webinar attendees purchase at the end of a webinar.
But how do you create a webinar that’ll get you results?
Here are the steps!
Or click below to cut to the chase 😉

1. Choose a Compelling Topic
Unsurprisingly, all great webinars start with a great topic.
You’ve got to hook your target market (which means you’ve got to understand your target market — more on that over here).
How?
Think of something that your target market really wants to learn how to do — and then tell them the value they’re going to get WITHOUT explaining your methodology.
Why?
Because methodology is boring. Results are exciting.
You’re aiming for curiosity.
Russell Brunson does a great job of explaining why curiosity converts in the first tip of the video below — which starts at about 0:30…
Make people curious and they’ll convert like crazy.
Here’s another example of curiosity in action from Bryan Ward.

This course is all about teaching people how to generate a nice side income.
And the page is long.
But guess what?
Nowhere on that page does Bryan explain what the product is… he only explains what it isn’t.
It’s not normal investing, it’s not crypto, and it’s not NFTs. Here’s what he says at the end of his page…
- You’ve invested in stocks… you’ve invested in bonds… maybe you’ve even invested in cryptos:
- Now it’s time to invest in the most powerful asset of all: YOURSELF.
- If you’re ready to arm and equip yourself with the most powerful, liberating financial framework I have to share…
- If you’re ready to kick Wall Street to the curb…
- If you’re ready to take charge of your family’s financial destiny…
- …DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT:
- Get The KISS MY ASS, WALL STREET Course Now
And then he charges people $197… and people buy it… even though they technically don’t know exactly what they’re getting.
They only know what they’re not getting.
Sounds crazy?
That’s how crazy powerful curiosity is for converting and making sales. Use it to get people’s attention when you’re running your next webinar!
Oh — and if you have no idea where to start with writing your webinar script… steal this. 😉
2. Choose Your Traffic Source
You might have the best webinar on the planet.
It’s going to convert your target market like clockwork — even the best marketers in the world will look upon it with wonder and awe.
But that’s all useless if you don’t have a good flow of high-quality traffic.
Even the best webinar will perform poorly with the wrong traffic.
So.
Where is your traffic going to come from?
Here are the two best options.
Advertising

If you’ve got money to invest, then run ads.
You can run ads on Facebook, YouTube, Google, Reddit, and lots of other platforms. To be successful at running ads for your webinar, make sure you have a good understanding of your target market and where they like to hang out.
The better you understand your customer avatar, the easier it’ll be to target them with your advertisements — and the less you’ll spend to generate high-quality leads. Here’s our free guide to building a Facebook Funnel. Check it out for more advertising tips.
Partnerships
One of the wonderful things about a webinar is that it can both generate leads for your business on the frontend… and make sales on the back end.
This means that you could build some affiliate relationships with influencers in your industry and ask them to promote your webinar — if those people attend and buy, they’ll get a cut of the profit.
Alternatively, you could reach out to these people and, if you have a sizable audience yourself, offer to do a cross-promo trade. They promote your webinar to their audience and you’ll promote something of theirs to your audience.
Win-win.
The more connections you have in your industry, the easier this is going to be!
3. Build Your Funnel
So far we’ve talked about how to choose a compelling topic for your webinar as well as how to drive traffic.
But what about the actual webinar funnel itself?
What about the nuts and bolts of building a webinar sales funnel?
That’s what ClickFunnels software can help you with. 🙂
Start with a webinar registration page, send some indoctrination pages before your webinar goes live, and then send a link to the webinar replay page.
That’s the basic structure of an effective webinar funnel.

And ClickFunnels can help you build it.

4. Use Open Loops
People might sign up for your webinar.
They might even attend.
But how are you going to catch their attention and keep their attention during the entire presentation?
The trick is something called the “open loop” — this is a technique that copywriters use to keep people’s attention.
And it works really well for webinars.
Here’s a video that explains how open loops work.
The basic idea is that you make a promise for something you’re going to show the person how to do later on in the video… which encourages them to stick around.
For instance…
“In this masterclass, I’m going to show you how to get more leads for your business using webinars at a cost that’s so low you can’t believe it. But before we talk about that…”
See?
You’d have to keep watching that until you found out what they’re offering.
Start your video with an open loop — make an exciting and compelling promise right off the bat to encourage people to stick around and hear what you have to say.
That’s how you catch people’s attention.
To keep their attention, keep using open loops throughout the video. Even tell them that if they stick around until the end, you’re going to give them something awesome.
5. Steal This Script
Don’t know what to say in your webinar?
Have stage fright?
Feel like you’re not very creative?
No worries.

6. Sell at the End
The first goal of your webinar is to generate leads.
And it’ll do that on the front-end when people register to attend your webinar — it does this really well.
But there’s a second purpose to your webinar.
Namely, to sell your service or product to the attendees.
This happens at the very end of your webinar after you’ve provided a lot of free value.
But you might be wondering… how do you transition from providing free value to selling something?
Also, how do you genuinely provide free value without giving away “the goods”?
The best answers to those questions are inside of our tested-and-proven webinar script — get it here now for just $7.
But the quick answer is to not be shy about it.
If I just spent the last hour of my time explaining some important principles about pitching and finding clients as a freelancer… and then I finish my presentation by offering the exact script I use to pitch clients… that doesn’t feel like a waste at all. In fact, it’s just additional value.
Attendees can take it or leave it.
They get free value either way.
But if you do it correctly, most of them will take it. 😉
7. Test… & Repeat Your Best
Sometimes, you’re going to run a webinar that’s… well, a bit of a dud.
But don’t worry.
It happens to the best of us — yes… even Russell Brunson. 🙂
So here’s our final recommendation if you’re serious about using webinars to generate leads, make sales, and grow your business.
Keep trying, keep testing, and use what works best.
Run your webinar until you get the results you want — that might require some changes to your script, changes to your pacing, or using more open loops. But keep going. Test different things and eventually you’ll stumble upon a webinar that works really well.
Record it!
And then republish it as an AutoWebinar to run on autopilot. That webinar will become an asset for your business and generate leads and sales for years to come.
Final Thoughts
Webinars are effective.
There’s no question.
But ALSO… not all webinars are effective — some webinars perform poorly because they don’t create enough curiosity, they don’t keep people’s attention, or they aren’t structured properly to drive people from one step to the next.
That’s where the above tips come in.
Use them… and you’ll be able to create a webinar that generates a consistent stream of leads and makes a lot of sales for your business.
