ClickFunnels is finally here!

With it comes a whole swathe of new features — a full-blown CRM, visual funnel editor, course creator, membership site, eCommerce functionalities, and lots more…

…such as Payments.AI

If you’re a member, you might have noticed this tab in your ClickFunnels menu…

If you’re a member, you might have noticed this tab in your ClickFunnels 2.0 menu…payments

That’s your direct access to our Payments.AI platform.

Let’s talk about what it is.

What is Payments.AI?

Payments.AI is a hub for ClickFunnels members to view transactions, manage payment gateways, and create custom automations regarding things like trial ending reminders, credit card expiration reminders, and subscription dunning.

That’s a mouthful.

So let’s break it down.

Here’s a high-level overview of what you will manage inside of your Payments.AI account vs. your ClickFunnels account (with links to some of our help articles)…

Overview of What You Can Set Up from ClickFunnels Account:

  • Create, manage and edit subscriptions
  • Create, manage and edit trials
  • Create and edit products
  • Create orders
  • Process payments and refunds
  • Send an invoice

Overview of What You Set Up from Your Payments.AI Account:

Getting Started With Payments.AI

Getting setup with Payments.AI is as easy as clicking on this button in your ClickFunnels account and then following the steps and answering some questions.

Getting Started With Payments.AI

Once you do, you’ll be taken to the Payments.AI platform, which is distinct from the ClickFunnels platform (but automatically connects to your ClickFunnels account once setup).

Choose the country where you operate and confirm (or say “No) that you don’t sell items on our restricted list.

Choose the country where you operate and confirm (or say “No) that you don’t sell items on our restricted list.

Here’s a sample of our restricted list (this is not exhaustive)…

  • Financial consulting services
  • Resellers without proof of agreements – if you are a reseller of a product or service you must obtain the appropriate reseller certificate or permission
  • Foreign Currency Exchange services or software, binary options
  • Live animals
  • Medical Benefit Packages, discount medical cards, Medical/therapy services, medical consultation services, dental plans
  • Unapproved drugs and devices mimicking illegal drugs
  • Phone unlock services, Jail breakers
  • Satellite, Cable signal decoders/cards
  • Virtual Credit
  • Virtual gaming chips, credits, penny auctions, auctions with non-refundable bid or participation fees
  • Weapons, Firearms, ammunition, explosives, hazardous materials, combustibles, knives
  • Crowdfunding

If what you sell falls into one of those categories, then select “No” and you’ll be able to setup a Payments.AI account — you just won’t be able to use the Payments.AI gateway, but you can still connect other payment gateways which might allow you to sell your products or services.

You might also notice that your country is restricted with the Payments.AI gateway. If that’s the case, then the same situation applies.

Otherwise you’ll be taken through the simple and straightforward Payments.AI application so you can use the Payments.AI payment gateway (which will save you a little bit of money… more on that under “Pricing” in this article).

Either way, you’ll soon arrive at your dashboard!

In addition to adding payment gateways, you can also customize some important settings for those gateways…

Sticky Gateway — By default, Payments.AI will split your transactions 50/50 randomly between all the payment gateways you have set up (you can change this ratio globally for all gateways in Settings under “Gateway Automation Rules). If you set a specific gateway to sticky, this will mean that the gateway “sticks” to customers whose first payment is processed through that gateway, ensuring that that customer’s payments are always processed through the same gateway.

Card Statement Descriptor — This is where you can change what is shown on your customers’ credit card statements when they purchase something from you.

3-D Secure — Enabling 3-D Secure will allow you to process payments using payment cards protected with the 3-D Secure protocol. Most European payment cards require this protocol to be processed.

Payments.AI Pro Features: Rule Setting & Automations

If you want to use some advanced automation features, you can activate Payments.AI PRO and get access to the following features…

Subscriptions — This will allow you to create recurring subscriptions. It costs an additional 0.5%/recurring transaction.

Automation Rules — This feature allows you to create automations for subscription dunning, trial end reminders, and credit card expiration reminders. You can also create rules and automations indicating when you want to use which payment gateways (such as setting payments gateways based on the customer’s country). It costs an additional 0.5%/recurring transaction. Check out the rules & automations you can create below…

  • Trial End Reminder — Automatically send an email to the customer whose subscription trial period is ending. Choose the number of reminders and when to send them. Default settings will send one reminder seven days before trial ends. If the trial duration is less than seven days, we send the email immediately.

Subscription Dunning

Bundle Subscription & Automation Rules — This allows you to get access to subscriptions and automation rules without being double charged the 0.5% for each transaction. You can use both features and we’ll only charge the 0.5% fee once per transaction.

Payments.AI Pricing Explained

You might notice that if you’re using the Payments.AI gateway, you’re charged a 0% gateway fee whereas if you use a third-party gateway you’re charged a 1% gateway fee.

This is why it can save you a bit of money to use the Payments.AI gateway.

To be clear, the gateway fee is separate and distinct from the transaction fees.

Gateway fees are applied to cover the costs of receiving and processing a transaction. This fee pays for the use of the software infrastructure to obtain payment information, request authorization from the consumer’s bank, and to facilitate the payment from one entity to another. Payments.AI allows you to use multiple gateways in the same merchant account to protect you as the entrepreneur from ever having any payment stoppages in your pages or funnels. This is where you will see the gateway fee applied for third-party gateways to continue offering this service to our users.

Transaction fees are for the convenience of accepting credit card payments charged by the different card networks and processors. These are charged by Payments.AI as well as other payment processors.

You can see a breakdown of pricing between all the different payment gateways here

Final Thoughts

As you can see, Payments.AI has a ton of cool features and tools that will make the nitty-gritty payment processing party of your business flow smoothly and seamlessly.

Hopefully this guide has given you a better idea of how you can use Payments.AI to manage your business and create some useful automation rules.
