Do you sell B2C products and services?
Today we are going to share a winning B2C sales process that you can use to take your business to the next level!
Why You Need a B2C Sales Funnel
There’s no such thing as free traffic: you either pay for it with money or you pay for it with time.
So it makes sense to use a customer acquisition strategy that allows you to get the highest ROI. How can you make the most out of the traffic that you generate?
The most common approach to B2C sales is driving traffic directly to your company’s website or to your sales pages. But that’s not the most effective way to sell your products and services. Why?
Because it’s extremely difficult to convert a first-time visitor into a paying customer. This should become obvious once you consider your own consumer behavior. When was the last time you saw some random Facebook ad, clicked on it, and purchased that product then and there?
While it’s probably safe to say that we have all made impulse purchases in the past, it’s not the primary online shopping pattern. People typically buy from brands that they already know and trust.
That’s why pitching someone your product or service when they don’t even know who you are is a waste of time, energy, and money. After all, even if they click through to its sales page, they are probably not going to buy it. But what’s the alternative?
Driving traffic to your lead magnet landing page instead is a much more effective approach to B2C sales because it allows you to first convert visitors into leads and then into paying customers.
Realistically, even with this approach, very few people are going to buy your product or service immediately, but if you have their email addresses, you can continue building trust by providing free value via email. And the more trust you build with someone, the more likely they are to buy from you.
It’s even better if you use the Value Ladder sales funnel that allows you to gradually build trust with your paid offers:

You start with a free offer aka lead magnet, then follow that up with an inexpensive paid offer, then pitch a more expensive one, until finally you build enough trust to sell your most expensive offer.
Obviously, the effectiveness of this approach is predicated on exceeding the customer’s expectations at each stage of the Value Ladder so that they would trust you enough to proceed to the next stage. If you can do that, then you can eventually sell anything to them, no matter how expensive!
We understand that this might seem like an unnecessarily complicated way to sell your products and services if you are used to driving traffic directly to your company’s website or your sales pages.
But you don’t have to take our word for it: you can simply build a basic Value Ladder sales funnel (Bait + Frontend stages), start driving traffic to it, and see if it generates more sales than your current approach!
How to Build a B2C Sales Funnel That Converts
Okay, so how do you build a B2C sales funnel?
Create a Lead Magnet That Provides a Complete Solution to a Narrowly-Defined Problem
You can’t expect people to give you their email addresses just because. You need to offer them something in return. What’s in it for them?
This is where your lead magnet comes in. You need a freebie that you can use as bait to attract potential customers. And it’s not enough for it to be free, it also needs to be valuable. But what does that mean?
Alex Hormozi argues that a lead magnet should be a complete solution to a narrowly-defined problem.
That way, it will provide genuine value to the potential customer, which will help build the trust that you need to sell them your products and services.
And it doesn’t need to be complicated. It can be as simple as offering someone a free massage and then pitching them massage subscriptions and massage packages.
Here’s how Alex Hormozi explains it:
The video above also provides a 7-step framework that you can use to create a great lead magnet!
Use a Proven Landing Page Template to Create a Landing Page for Your Lead Magnet
You can and should promote your lead magnet on your website. But that shouldn’t be your primary customer acquisition strategy!
Instead, you want to create a standalone landing page for your lead magnet that you can then drive traffic to directly.
We recommend using one of the proven, high-converting landing page templates from the ClickFunnels template library!
Set Up a Welcome Sequence That Allows You to Convert Leads Into Customers on Autopilot
Okay, so now you know how to convert visitors into leads, but how can you then convert them into paying customers?
We recommend this six-email welcome sequence:
Day 1 – Introduce yourself.
Day 2- Share how did you get into this industry and why did you start your business.
Day 3- Tell them more about your company. What exactly do you specialize in?
Day 4- Explain why they should trust you. You can also establish yourself by listing formal credentials, relevant experience, and notable accomplishments.
Day 5- Describe your dream customer. Who is your target audience? Ideally, you want to also include a case study or at least a testimonial in this email.
Day 6- Pitch your least expensive product or service and end the email with a call to action and a link to its sales page.
This approach gives the potential customer time to check out your lead magnet and gives you time to build more trust before you make your pitch.
It’s difficult to convert a new email subscriber into a paying customer on day one but it’s much easier to do that on day six after they have gone through this entire welcome sequence!
You can easily automate all this with ClickFunnels. You only need to set up your welcome sequence once. After that, it can run on autopilot!
Increase Your Revenue With Bump Offers, Upsells and Cross Sells
So far we have discussed how to sell your Frontend offer.
You can increase your revenue by adding a bump offer, an upsell, or a cross sell to it. Or all three!
In case you are wondering what’s the difference between these three types of additional offers:
- A bump offer is something inexpensive and self-explanatory that a customer can add to their order without giving it a second thought (e.g. expedited shipping). It’s the online equivalent of throwing a KitKat in your cart as you are about to check out at a grocery store.
- An upsell is an upgrade on the offer that the potential customer has already accepted. Remember McDonald’s “Would you like to supersize that?”? It’s arguably the most famous upsell in history. You can create an upsell by offering a larger quantity of the product at a better price, a subscription for that product, or a product bundle that includes additional items (e.g. if you sell your book as a paperback, you can upsell a bundle that includes the paperback version, the ebook version, and the audio version).
- A cross sell is an offer that is complementary to the offer that the potential customer has already accepted. McDonald’s is unrivaled here as well because “Would you like fries with that?” is arguably the most famous cross sell in history. You can create a cross sell by pitching a product or service that is complementary to your Frontend offer (e.g. if you sell a fitness program for beginners, you can cross sell personal training).
If your bump offer, upsells, and cross sell are valuable enough, some customers will inevitably end up purchasing them. That’s extra revenue that you would have missed out on had you not created these additional offers!

How to Drive Traffic to Your B2C Sales Funnel
Driving traffic to your sales funnel requires one essential mindset shift: instead of using marketing to promote your products or services, you should use it to promote your lead magnet.
Here’s what that means in practice:
- Social media marketing – Add a link to your lead magnet in your bio. You should also promote it in your posts but be careful and don’t overdo it, as being too promotional is the quickest way to alienate your followers.
- YouTube marketing – Link to your lead magnet on your channel homepage and in your video descriptions. You should also end each video with a call to action where you encourage your viewers to go get it.
- Search engine optimization – Add opt-in forms at the bottom of your blog posts and also set up exit-intent pop-ups so that the visitors would be shown an opt-in box as they are about to leave your website. This can help you convert SEO traffic into leads.
- Influencer marketing – Pay influencers to promote your lead magnet instead of paying them to promote your products or services.
- Paid advertising – Use paid ads to promote your lead magnet. Make sure that the ad copy and design make it clear that your offer is FREE. Otherwise, people might not realize that and scroll right past it.
Promoting your lead magnet instead of your products and services might feel weird at first, especially when it comes to influencer marketing and paid advertising. That’s completely normal and will take some time to get used to.
However, we are confident that once you gather enough data, you will see that this approach is much more effective than promoting your products and services directly especially in the long run!
But What if You are Selling High-Touch B2C Products and Services?
So far we have discussed how to build a completely automated sales funnel where all you need to do to make sales is drive traffic to it.
This approach can work really well for inexpensive, low-touch offers. But what if you sell high-touch products and services?
In that case, you may not be able to close the sale without talking to the potential customer one-on-one. So how do you get them to schedule a call with you?
One way to go about it is to simply use the sixth email in your welcome sequence to pitch a FREE 30-minute consultation with you and end it with a call to action encouraging the potential customer to book an appointment.
Alternatively, you can build a webinar funnel where you use a webinar as your lead magnet. Webinars funnels can be extremely effective for selling high-touch products and services!
Here’s how the structure of this funnel looks like:

The webinar itself should last around an hour and consist of:
- A 45-minute presentation where you provide a solution to a problem that your potential customers are struggling with.
- A 15-minute sales pitch where you pitch your product or service.
- A call to action where you end the webinar by encouraging the attendees to book a FREE 30-minute consultation with you.
The reason why this funnel is so powerful is that the free presentation allows you to provide value, build trust, and establish credibility.
If you succeed at doing all that, the attendees will probably be interested in what you have to sell, so they are going to listen to your pitch.
And if your pitch is good, then some attendees will probably want to schedule that free 30-minute consultation with you.
Then, once you get them on a call, you can establish rapport, learn more about their situation, and see if you can help them.
Finally, if it seems like a good match, you can pitch your product or service and close the sale.
Also, if someone attends your webinar, but doesn’t book a free consultation, you still have their email address so you can continue nurturing that relationship.
Maybe they don’t need or can’t afford your product or service right now. But that might change in the future so it’s important to stay top of mind with them!
While this funnel can work with a pre-recorded webinar, we recommend doing live events because that is the fastest way to figure out what resonates with your target audience. This can help you optimize your webinar for maximum conversions.
In fact, our co-founder Russell Brunson believes that the best business model in the world is to create a webinar for your product or service and then do that webinar live every single week for a year!
