5 Awesome Benefits To Landing Pages

5 Awesome Benefits To Landing Pages

Last updated on December 11th, 2025 at 10:38 am

You probably already know that you should be using landing pages in your business. But why are they so important?

Today we are going to discuss five awesome benefits of landing pages…

What is a Landing Page?

A landing page is a web page designed with a single conversion goal in mind.

There are two main types of landing pages:

  1. Lead generation landing pages are designed to convert page visitors into leads by persuading them to provide their contact details (typically, their name and email address or just the email address).
  2. Sales pages are designed to convert page visitors into customers by persuading them to buy a product or service.

In theory, both lead generation landing pages and sales pages are landing pages.

In practice, though, when people use the term “landing page”, they are usually referring to lead generation landing pages.

That’s why in this article we will only be discussing lead generation landing pages.

Now with that out of the way, let’s take a closer look at the landing page benefits…

#1: Landing Pages Convert the Best

Landing pages are the type of web pages that convert the best.

This shouldn’t be surprising because the whole point of the landing page is to remove all distractions that might prevent the potential customer from taking the action that you want them to take.

Consequently, creating a landing page and driving traffic directly to it will probably be more effective than presenting that same offer on a traditional website.

Unbounce did some interesting research where they analyzed lead generation landing pages across 10 different industries with a total of 74,551,421 visitors. What did they find?

The average conversion rate of a lead generation landing page was 4.02% but there was also a significant variation between different industries.

As you can see in the chart below, average lead generation landing page conversion rates range from 2.6% in the higher education industry to 6.1% in the vocational studies and job training industry.

Landing Pages Convert the Best

While these conversion rates may not seem that impressive, they are almost certainly better than what you’d get with traditional websites in the same industries.

Moreover, you need to keep in mind that these are just the average conversion rates, which means that if you are willing to put some effort into your landing pages, you should be able to do better than that.

#2: Landing Pages Can Help You Generate More Leads

A lead is a potential customer who has:

  1. Expressed an interest in your product or service
  2. Give you their contact details (typically an email address)

Note that it’s the latter that makes a lead.

Someone who has visited your website has expressed an interest in your product by doing so but they can’t be considered a lead until you have their contact details.

There are several ways to generate leads online, but the most effective one is driving traffic to your lead generation funnel.

Here’s how it works:

  1. You create an irresistible lead magnet that you offer to the potential customer in exchange for their email address
  2. You create a landing page for that lead magnet
  3. You drive traffic to that landing page.

Once the potential customer gives you their email address, they become a lead and enter your sales funnel

Then you can start selling them your products and services via email.

#3: Landing Pages Enable You to Build a Pre-Launch Email List

Have an upcoming product launch?

You can use a product launch funnel to build your pre-launch email list.

The Product Launch Funnel

Here’s what the product launch funnel looks like:

How to Build a Product Launch Funnel

First, you need a lead magnet that will serve as a free sample of your product.

Say, if you are launching a book, you can offer the potential customer its first chapter in exchange for their email address.

Once you have your lead magnet, you should create a squeeze page for it, which is the most basic type of landing page.

We recommend using one of the proven, high-converting squeeze page templates that you can find in the ClickFunnels template library.

And when it comes to the video sequence, we recommend structuring it like this:

  • Video #1: Position yourself as an authority, explain how this same opportunity changed your life, and show the potential customer how your product will make their life better. Then bring up objections that the potential customer might have and promise to answer them in the next video.
  • Video #2: Answer the most common objections. Provide social proof by sharing case studies of previous customers. Then foreshadow the next video.
  • Video #3: Express how excited you are that the potential customer has made it this far. Then take a step back, explain the big picture, and help them visualize what your product can do for them. Then foreshadow the next video.
  • Video #4: Open the doors. It’s time to make your offer available to the potential customer. This page should have a “Buy” button below the video that will take them to the product order form.

Once you are ready to launch your product, send this video sequence to your email subscribers.

Make sure to space out these videos – send one every day or every other day.

Don’t make them all available immediately because that would beat the whole purpose of the product launch funnel.

When to Start Building a Pre-Launch Email List?

It’s best to start building an email list for your upcoming launch the moment you set the launch date.

You can start with just the lead magnet landing page, then build out the rest of your product launch funnel later.

Also, if your launch is still a few months away, then you should create an automated email sequence with relevant content that would allow you to keep in touch with your subscribers until the launch week when you send out the video series.

#4: Landing Pages Allow You to Test Various Offers

Here’s the harsh truth about lead magnets:

You can’t know if your free offer resonates with your target audience until you put it in front of your dream customers.

That’s why you shouldn’t get overly excited about an untested lead magnet idea and start pouring resources into it.

Instead, produce a minimum viable version of that lead magnet, create a landing page for it, and start driving traffic to it.

Then sit back and watch what happens. Are people giving you their email addresses?

If you are getting email sign-ups, then you can invest more into that lead magnet, its landing page, and its ad campaign.

However, if there’s not much interest, it’s probably best to drop that lead magnet idea altogether, go back to the drawing board, and come up with something better.

You might need to test several lead magnet ideas until you find one that truly resonates with your dream customers. This is to be expected so don’t be discouraged!

Fortunately, it’s easy to test various offers with landing pages, especially if you are using ClickFunnels – our software allows you to create landing pages extremely fast!

#5: Landing Pages are Easy to Optimize With A/B Testing

Once you find the winning lead magnet, it’s time to start optimizing its landing page with A/B testing.

A/B testing, also known as split testing, is a conversion rate optimization method that marketers use to increase the conversion rate of a given web page:

  1. You create two variants of the same page: variant A and variant B. There should be only one difference between them – that’s the element that you are testing (e.g. the call-to-action button color).
  2. You split the traffic in two and send half of it to variant A and the other half to variant B.
  3. You let the experiment run until it reaches statistical significance, then analyze the results and keep the winning variant.

While it’s possible to stumble upon some big wins this way, the real power of A/B testing lies in minor conversion rate increases that add up over time.

Optimizing your landing page can help you increase your sales, revenue, and profit!
